Birds take flight
Choose NO MORE
over constant
blight
Of drowning in the tangled painful
flight
If depression past
respite

Like Diogenes
Its pillars of stone and crevice
Cold and searing hot
sharp-surfaced
Stop tearing burning at my flesh!
Red angry skies confuse the mind
Squeeze through the narrow
opening between cruel towering
rock and rock and more rock
It’s scraped away my flesh
Exposing bone and sinew
Muscle and meat
Strands of long looping brown hair
Gently floating in the breeze.
Chilled wafts of dancing air
cooling my pale skin.
Shoulders chest cheeks
Cooled near shivering.
Where do I begin?
I feel that I am lost
some say it’s true.
Some say it’s not.
I feel the slowing time race through
Toward the divine.
Nearly out of time.
Are you man enough to handle me
Sweet enough to care
When darkness falls upon me
Tightly
engulfs me in its snare?
Are you kind enough to look upon
My face smudged up in tears
Strong enough to revel in
My twirling and my fears?
When you lay your cheek upon the sheet
at night to sleep and dream
